The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology is recognized as the primary unit where the diagnosis and treatment planning for patients aged 14 and above are carried out. A comprehensive evaluation is performed, taking into account not only the teeth but also the surrounding oral and maxillofacial structures.
The diagnosis and management of diseases affecting the mouth and adjacent structures are the main focus of the department. During evaluations, existing conditions are assessed alongside potential risks and underlying problems. Detailed medical histories are obtained from patients, including information on their general health and medications. This process ensures that possible interactions between current medications and those planned for oral treatments are identified, and necessary precautions are taken in advance.
In some cases, undiagnosed oral lesions may be associated with systemic diseases, highlighting the importance of a multidisciplinary approach. A thorough physical examination is conducted, and diagnostic tests such as pulp vitality tests, saliva analysis, blood and urine tests, advanced imaging modalities, and intraoral and extraoral radiographs are utilized to ensure accurate assessments.
Based on a comprehensive analysis of patient data, individualized treatment plans are prepared, and patients are referred to the relevant clinical departments for further care.
